In every community there are people who whilst members of the group, perceive themselves to be on the edges, less connected than they might like be.  A physical eruv,  can have the effect of making people who need to carry items to participate easily feel more included in community life. This imagined map is therefore an invitation to think abut the various communities we are involved in and ask how we might help other people feel more included and able to participate in society.

Yet, real estate which lies in the emptier rural areas often has a higher value and is seen as aspirational  compared to those in certain city centre areas. We might also ask as we lookout this map, what are the advantages of  being able to take a step aside and see our communities from the edges? When might we best serve or community by removing ourselves from the centre and allowing others to step up into the space?
