GRACE MANIFESTO

Whilst my art manifesto focuses on the purpose of what I am doing and the way in which I am doing it, this more lighthearted Grace Manifesto is a set of reminders to turn to in times of doubt and challenge. Feel free to steal from it!

1                              Not knowing is part of the process.

2                              I am a work in progress working on works in progress.

3                              I do not need to justify how I spend my creative time to others.

4                              Wanderings and non-linear progress are totally permissible. Lost is another way of

                  saying ‘on an adventure.’

5                              I have the right to change my mind, my direction, my privacy levels, my medium, my

                 genre, my career.

6                              Mess happens.

7                              Slow is not a criticism. It is descriptor of a valid process.

8                              A work can be finished when it has contributed enough to the development of my

process not only when it is suitable to be exhibited or sold.

9                             Not everyone will understand what I am doing. That’s OK. I don’t always understand

what I am doing. Therein lies the joy of finding out.

10                        You can be an artist even if you can’t draw a face.
